Needs Statement
There is a need to provide to preceptors for the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy information regarding the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) standards for Experiential Education (EE) and how these standards shaped the new Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) curriculum and how it ties into the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science’s Philosophy of Practice. There is also a need to train current preceptors on a new Pharmacy Education Management System (PEMS) which will be used for rotation scheduling and assessment management under the new EE curriculum.Target Audience
Our target audience is Community Pharmacy preceptors , specifically those that will be Precepting the IPPE I course.Objectives
1. To review with preceptors the ACPE standards regarding Experiential Education2. To review with preceptors past accreditation concerns regarding the EPPE course
3. To review with preceptors improvement plan and curriculum changes for EPPE
4. To inform preceptors of changes in store for the upcoming PY1 experiential students
5. To review with preceptors the Pharmacy Practice & Science Philosophy of Practice
6. To train preceptors on the Pharmacy Education Management System

The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.This knowledge-based activity has been assigned ACPE # 022-000-09-036-H04-P and will award 1.00 contact hour(s) (0.1 CEU(s)) of continuing pharmacy education credit in states that recognize ACPE providers.Statements of credit will indicate hours and CEUs based on participation and will be issued online at the conclusion of the activity. Successful completion includes completing the activity, its accompanying evaluation and/or posttest (score 70% or higher) and requesting credit online at the conclusion of the activity.
