Needs Statement
Pharmacy practitioners across the state provide a significant component of experiential education to pharmacy students at their practice sites. Many of these individuals have had no formal training in educational processes. A need exists to provide formal training to develop precepting skills so that there is consistency in the experiential education and evaluation process. One important skill is providing feedback to students on their performance. Preceptors need to learn strategies to make feedback effective for students, as well as being efficient. The Pharmacy Accreditation Standards require continued training of preceptors. This program will assist preceptors in reviewing and implementing feedback strategies.
Target Audience
Pharmacists who precept students.Objectives
1. Identify reasons why feedback on performance is important for students, residents, or employees.2. Describe elements and strategies to provide specific feedback.
